A few weekends ago, I had the absolute honor of photographing Mary and Sean’s breathtaking Tennessee wedding. Not only are these two amazing clients, but they are also amazing family. Mary is Ben’s cousin and I was so thrilled that she wanted us to shoot her wedding. A year ago, Mary and I talked about her Carnton Plantation wedding and I became so excited by her description of the venue. It sounded so vintage and southern! I knew that a place like this would make the perfect backdrop to the beautiful bride that I knew she would be. I could not wait to shoot the wedding.
When we arrived in Nashville two days before the wedding and much to our dismay, it was pouring rain. Everyone thought, “no problem,” it will be gone by Saturday (fingers crossed). But, Saturday morning came and the rain was still falling…heavy. My heart sank as I looked out our hotel window and the skies were wet and dark. I quickly was running through alternate photo ops in my head for the sweet couple. But when I say God is good, I mean, GOD IS GOOOOD. As I was driving to Mary’s house for hair and makeup, the rain just stopped and a few rays of glorious sun poked through the cloudy abyss. I knew then that Mary and Sean were going to get the wedding day they both deserved.
The rest of the day went off without a hitch. Everything went on as planned and they could not have asked for a better day to start their life together. Ben and I were so honored to be able to have photographed such an adoring couple. We learned so much through their friends and family sharing bits and pieces of their love story and how they have made it to this day. So inspiring and truly makes a romantic heart melt. They deserve nothing but the best in life.
We love you, Mary and Sean! Congratulations.
Carnton Plantation in Franklin, TN (right outside of Nashville) sits atop an old battlefield, which creates the ultimate rustic setting for a true southern wedding. Mary’s ivory gown was beautifully detailed with lace giving it that vintage feel.
To help her prepare for the day, Mary had the comfort of her mother and closest girlfriends
Mary, you are stunning…absolutely without a doubt. A true southern belle.
Ben was with Sean down the road while he dressed for the big day.
Sharp as a tack, sir.
The ceremony was held on the plantation’s garden grounds and a lovely string quartet offered beautiful music throughout the ceremony.
It is always heart-stopping when you see a groom tear up as his bride makes her way down the aisle to him.
As we headed out to a nearby field for Mary and Sean’s portraits, the setting sun peeked and offered some amazing light.
Southern belle…right there…
The reception was held under a tent detailed with mason jars and orange and purple florals.
Mary and Sean were welcomed with loud cheers as they made their way onto the dance floor as husband and wife.
After that, the music got a little more groovy and the danc’n started.
What a way to celebrate…
Mary and Sean had a beautiful evening and warm send off from their guests.
Congratulations again, Mary and Sean!
