The two took their vows along the waterfront of Lake Anna amongst their closest family and friends

Lindsay arrived by boat driven by her father to the ceremony. It was one of the most grandiose entrances I’ve seen…so romantic

The ceremony was charming and heartfelt as Lindsay and DJ recited their own vows to each other

After a few portraits, everyone headed into the reception which was held along the water 

The spreads were beautifully displayed

Lindsay and DJ shared a loving first dance

And Lindsay and her father had the most emotional father/daughter dance I have ever photographed….seriously

The speeches simply exuded the kind of amazing friends that Lindsay and DJ truly are

The two danced and laughed until the very last song

“When I was a freshman in high school practicing basketball in the gym, I noticed a tall boy waiting for football practice. I thought he was cute, but that was all. When we went on a retreat in February later that year, I tried to steal his journal in an attempt to “flirt” with him. It didn’t work, because he was kind of oblivious. He became less oblivious that I liked him when a friend told him he should ask me to our Junior/Senior prom. So he did. He waited for me to get to school, walked me to my locker, and then asked me out. And I said ‘yes’ and kind of stumbled off to class. Later that week, I broke my foot playing softball, and he had to take me to Junior/Senior while I was on crutches. So, we bonded quickly after that, and even though we went to different colleges and he went to play professional baseball for awhile, we stayed close. We had bad times and good times, but we always managed to be there for each other. And when his baseball career crashed because of an injury, he came home, and then we decided to get married.”

And they did. And I am so blessed that I was able to capture it. I went to high school with Anne and it is so amazing to see that she has developed into a wonderful, Godly woman.

Anne and Jacob, I am so happy for you and I wish you both the best in your lifelong journey together.

Anne and Jacob celebrated their day at the Old Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach along the oceanfront.

Hair and makeup beautifully done by Shelina Sewell of Blush Hair and Makeup.

Anne was peaceful and relaxed as she got ready with her girls.

We went down to the beautiful lobby of the hotel for some pictures before the ceremony.

Jacob and his gentlemen were ready to get this show on the road…

The ceremony was held outside the hotel amidst a grove of trees.

Anne had sweet tears that fell as her father walked her down the aisle to her future husband…

But she was all smiles when she held Jacob’s hand…

After the ceremony, we escaped to the beach for some portraits as the sun set…

She loves him so…

The sunlight along with the ocean breeze was perfect and created a whimsical feel for them…

Back at the hotel, the bridal party gathered before the reception began…

Full of delicious food, cake, beautiful speeches and dancing, their reception was wonderful…

One last moment of just the two of them before they headed off…

Having been a professional baseball player, it was only fitting to exit this way…

Ben and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as we spent the day with friends and family of Katherine and Martin. And let me tell you, their reception was unlike any other we have ever photographed…I haven’t had that much fun, nor laughed so hard in a long time. Polish weddings are quite the partaaay.

Martin and his groomsmen got ready in the presidential suite at the Sheraton in Downtown Norfolk.

The beautiful ceremony was held in Virginia Beach at St. John the Apostle Catholic Parish

After the ceremony, we headed to Indian River Plantation for pictures. And would you believe that just as the bridal party stepped out of the limo, it stopped raining? Well, believe it.

Julia and Forrest had an absolutely beautiful day. Friends and family were in abundance and you could see that everyone was beyond thrilled to help celebrate the newlyweds and their new journey together.

They first met while Toni was completing his PhD in Wisconsin in 2009.  Shortly after, they reunited in Toni’s home county, Spain and traveled to Morocoo as well. After having spent this trip together, they knew this was something special and no amount of distance could put a kink in what they found. They Skyped every day and Toni took several lengthy trips to the U.S. to visit Jennifer over the course of the next year. In April of 2011, Toni found a permanent position in the U.S. If there’s a will, there’s a way…right?

It was such an honor to spend the day with Jennifer, Toni and all their family and friends celebrating their marriage to each other.

The wedding took place at the First Lady of Suffolk in Virginia.

As the sunny skies met the deep blue water horizon, Lindsay and Alex vowed their lives together.  Surrounded by family and friends, Alex and Lindsay relished in their day and we could not have been more honored to be there to capture it.

These are two absolutely beautiful people and I couldn’t have been more blessed to photograph their wedding day. Despite the sweltering 100 degree heat, these two never uttered a complaint, as all they could think about was spending the rest of their lives together.

After the ceremony, we stayed along the water to get some bridal party shots. They were such a fun group…

It was so sweet to see them laughing together throughout the evening…

After a beautiful and fun-filled evening, Chelsea and John had a gorgeous send off…

In the beginning of January, my sister, Shelina of Blush Hair and Makeup Salon, and I had the idea of getting a booth together at a bridal show. Great. I loved this idea, but now all we needed was a bridal show to be a part of. Seeing as most of the bridal shows had already come and gone or the deadline to sign up had past, we were getting nervous. After researching a bit more, we came across the VOW Bridal Event at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.  We quickly sent our inquiries to the show coordinator and with multiple and prompt responses from Katherine Byrd, VOW Bridal Magazine Sales Rep, we were able to book the last booth available. Hallelujah!

So, after many creative hours spent on preparation for the show, we finally pulled it together just in time. We were very pleased with the entire process of the show and we could not have done it without many, and I say many, helping hands. We are truly blessed to have friends and family in our lives that care about the prosperity and success of our businesses.

The show was this past Sunday, so we spent all afternoon on Saturday at the convention center setting up.  You cannot see, but we had seven sets of hands there to make our booth perfect for the brides. Here is the before…

 And here is the after. We went with a shabby chic look. All the furniture pieces are from Shelina’s salon. 

 On the left is an example of canvas prints I offer my clients. On the right are the discs that my clients receive with their images on it after their wedding.

Oh, these brochures. These brochures were made with TLC…a big ‘ol whopping amount of it.

We needed a backdrop that we could hang the prints on, so Shelina had a brilliant idea of finding old and weathered doors. My dad hinged them together and they created a perfect setting to display my photography.

VOW put on an exquisite bridal fashion show featuring Maya Couture and Pure English Couture gowns. During the show, I leaned over to Ben and said, “Let’s get married again…” He snarled through his lips and shook his head. I guess once is enough for him.

Our team: me, Tehra Burton (Shelina’s assistant), and Shelina. Ben is behind the camera.

A huuuge thank you to everyone that helped make this show what it was. We could not have done it without you! You know who you are. And another huuuuge thank you to all of the brides that were able to stop by and chat with us about their wedding. We truly enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to working with you.

Lauren was kind enough to travel down to be apart of our bridal shoot for the day. Lauren got married in July of 2010 and when I saw her walk down that aisle with her daddy in that dress, I almost collapsed. Beyond phenomenal, Lauren oozed every bit of southern belle in her Maya Couture gown. I knew she would be the perfect fit for our bridal shoot a few weekends ago. Shelina kept Lauren’s makeup clean and warm with touches of soft pink. Tehra Burton of Diva’s Day & Spa Salon, created soft waves and pinned her hair into a timeless styled chignon. She was radiant.

 Happy Friday and have a great Superbowl weekend…Go Giants! (I have to root for them, I live here… it’s the law).

Our models, Joel and Haley, were fantastic and did not even blink an eye in the freezing temperatures we had that day. A big thank you to Frances for her vintage detailing expertise and for the location on her family farm that has been in the family for six generations. And another big thank you to my dad for allowing us to use his ’49 Cadillac (his third child). And for all the other extra helping hands that made this shoot possible.
