Sneak Peek: Southern Virginia Bridal Shoots

Happy New Years!  I trust you all had a wonderful Christmas season. It has been a while since my last post, but it’s time to kick this year off with a bang for this upcoming wedding season. This past weekend, I flew home to southern Virginia to see family and to photograph a few bridal shoots. It was a very successful weekend and I cannot wait to share all of them with you.

Here are a few snippets of the shoots. Stay tuned for more and happy Tuesday!!!

A classic southern belle…

A soft, unique beauty that will capture any southern gentleman’s heart…

A modern look with crisp colors and timeless elegance…

And a 1940′s themed love story…

Family Shoot in Central Park: Brian, Fiona, Alex & Declan

A few weekends ago, I had the honor of spending the day with a beautiful family in Central Park. The timing of the shoot was perfect because it was just before the warm Summer air faded. We met around the northwest corner of Central Park. I had arrived a little early to the shoot, so I decided to take advantage of the quiet atmosphere and relax on a bench to pass the time. The sun would peek from behind the clouds from time to time and the warmth would wash over me as I listened to distant conversations of passersby. In a crazy city like this one, sometimes I forget how important it is to find quiet time in nature, even if the “nature” is surrounded by concrete.

After about 20 minutes of soaking in some rays, Brian called and said they had arrived. I met them at the entrance of the park and I couldn’t wait to start shooting these two beautiful boys.  It turned out to be a phenomenal afternoon and it was a pleasure to spend it with these sweet people.

Happy Tuesday!

We walked around and found this bridge that the boys like to walk on. It’s close to the pond with the ducks, so we hung around here for a bit.

This is Alex. Adorable and polite with a smile that will melt any heart…And this is Declan. He has an outgoing little character and a curiosity for bugs…
He thought bugs were in my camera, so he paid close attention to me to make sure they didn’t get away…After watching the ducks for a bit…It was time to play…and run…

And this is Mom and Dad. They know how to have fun with their boys…

More running for Declan…Straight into the arms of Mom…After all that playing, it was time to relax in the leaves…

Somebody got sleepy…But Dad and Alex were still having fun…Chill’n

Precious smile….He loved his lollipops…

One more hurrah to finish off the shoot…Then it was time to go home. Bye bye bugs…

Central Park Shoot: Linda & Chris

It was 1974. She was an 18-year-old from a little town outside of San Fransisco, California. After years of heartache, she needed more than a change, she needed a new life. It was time to leave behind the destructive cracks before she fell in one forever. She was packing up and heading south.

He was a 19-year-old who lived as he pleased in southern California. And when I say “lived as he pleased,” I mean he lived out of a decked out van with love beads hanging from the rear view mirror, all the while sport’n a full beard and white aviators. He had the world at his fingertips and nothing was ever going to tie him down…or so he thought.

He rescued her from her past and she rescued him from his wayward lifestyle. 33 years later and they still rescue each other. If one falls down, the other picks them up. They have taught my sister and I so much about life and about never giving up on marriage. I am so proud of them and I am truly blessed to call them my parents.

I love you both, beyond words can express.

Much love,

Jenelle

Last Christmas, I gifted my parents with a photo shoot. So this past October, they came up to visit Ben and me and decided that it was the perfect time to do the shoot. We stayed in Central Park and were so lucky with the beautiful weather. At first, it was a little bizarre to be shooting my parents. But after a bit, we developed a very good “client/photographer relationship” and it was smooth sailing from there…Best smile ever…My Dad can be such a romantic…If you know my Mom, you know how strong and courageous she is. Her story is inspiring and will teach you to never give up on anything…

She will be there with him everyday after next…And he will keep her safe and protected. He will carry the weight of any burden just so she does not have to.

I am so lucky to have a mother like her…And so blessed to have had this man love me first…
